Hi I’m Rosie
And I absolutely love to sew
I’m probably the Jack of all sewing trades, I’m a wedding dress designer and maker, a costumier, a sewing lecturer, a bridal alterations specialist, a tailor and a keen hobby sewer. I’m also a clumsy but getting there crocheter, mummy of two small kids and an annoying cat.
My mum taught me to sew using a kids sewing machine and vogue patterns when I was 15 years old and it started a life long love.
I studied historical costume at university and went on to work as part of teams of talented seamstresses for under some amazing cutters for blockbuster films which include Cinderella and Into The Woods; West End productions such as Motown and An American In Paris; and for Glyndebourne and the Royal Opera House.
I’ve been running Rosemary Jane Bride (formally Rosemary Jane Designs) since 2010. I came up with my bridal business when I was 18 and its been growing and developing since. My brides are fun, colourful, quirky and enjoy a bit of silliness.
I’ve been teaching adult sewing classes at Northbrook Met since 2015. I absolutely adore my students. I don’t see it as work at all because I’m having so much fun. I’m writing this blog because my students love hearing about what I’m working on, little tricks they can apply to their own work and my silly sewing stories.
